Breast Pumps For Rent

There are so many breast pumps available now that it can get confusing. There are manual breast pumps and electric breast pumps, battery operated pumps and hospital grade pumps.

Initially, hospital-grade breast pumps are the better option for establishing a good quantity of milk supply. On some occasions, over the counter breast pumps cannot cater to the mother’s requirements. The mothers of many NICU babies use these large and powerful hospital-grade breast pumps initially.

Decide which breast pump will meet your needs. You can either get breast pumps for rent or can purchase them. If you are not sure about which breast pump will work for you, first get a breast pump for rent. If it is ideal and you need it long term, buy that breast pump.

It will not be economically viable, as the rentals of breast pumps can be between $30-$60 in a month, while to buy a breast pump, you need $200.

How to Buy or Rent a Breast Pump
If you're a nursing mom, you have milk on demand for your baby. For a backup milk supply, you need a breast pump. All pumps use suction to pull milk into a container for later feedings.

Instructions:
1. If you will only be pumping occasionally, consider an inexpensive ($30) manual pump.
2. Some machines let you pump both breasts at once so you're done in half the time. Pumps run from $40 for a simple battery-powered model to $300 for a powerful double-pumper like the Medela Pump In Style.
3. If you're in the car a lot, look for a pump with a car-lighter adapter.

Although you don't need to buy a pump before your baby is born, you do need to get used to handling the pump well before you start using it. Talk to your pediatrician about the right time to start pumping and offering your baby a daily "acclimatizing" bottle. Too early and he or she may develop "nipple confusion" and stop breastfeeding. Too late and the baby may refuse a bottle altogether.
