Medela Hobbit Breast Shells

Executive summary about breast shields or shells by brooklynsmum

Pros: Effective at drawing out inverted nipples

Cons: Pooled milk at the bottom easily leaks out, Pointy Madonna look

The Hobbit Breast Shells or shields consist of three parts – the dome, ring, and cone. All parts are made of hard, clear plastic. The dome snaps together with either the ring or the cone depending on what you need the shells for. The cone is also exactly that – a cone shaped piece of plastic with a hole on the top. When joined to the dome and placed with the hole over the areola the two work together to draw out inverted nipples. The ring also snaps together with the dome and is worn over the breast to prevent clothing from rubbing against the nipple and causing pain.

In two words – they worked. These worked to draw out one inverted nipple. These shells inconvenient once milk came in. Breast pads can help slightly, but they can only hold so much fluid.
